SIGMA dp1 Quattro Firmware is now available to download.
The firmware is a program which runs inside the camera and controls its operation.

Who can download and update.

Customers using Sigma's dp1 Quattro
* It is not possible to use this firmware in the DP1, DP1s, DP1x, DP2, DP2s, DP2x, DP Merrill series, dp2 Quattro and SD series.

New camera firmware update now available for download.

• SIGMA dp1 Quattro Firmware Ver.1.01
This firmware update should be applied to any SIGMA dp1 Quattro camera that has firmware "Ver.1.00".
* If your camera already has firmware "Ver.1.01", you do not need this update.

Benefits of this firmware update

Ver.1.01

  • ・It has corrected the phenomenon that the software occasionally saves images with partially misaligned pixels.
  •  Caution: If the camera firmware has been updated to Ver. 1.01, it is not possible to develop RAW files in other than SIGMA Photo Pro 6.1.0. Please be sure to update both of the camera firmware and the software to the latest version.

How to check the current firmware version

  1. Check 01

    Turn on the camera.

  2. Check 02

    Press the MENU button on the back of the camera to display the Camera Set-up Menu.

  3. Check 03

    Select "Information" from the Set-up Menu.
    Press the OK button again to display the firmware update window.
    The installed firmware information is displayed.
    If the version is "Ver.1.00", it is necessary to update to this new firmware version.

Caution (Firmware update)

If the camera is turned off during the update procedure, it might cause a malfunction and damage your camera.
To avoid causing a malfunction, please read the following carefully before updating the firmware.

  • • Please use a dedicated AC adapter or a fully charged battery.
  • • Do not open the BATTERY/CARD COVER or operate the camera during the firmware update.
  • • Do not turn off the camera during the firmware update.

How to update the firmware

  1. STEP 01

    Please use 512MB or larger SD/SDHC/SDXC card and format the card in the camera body.
    * To avoid loss of your important data, please check the SD/SDHC/SDXC card before formatting

  2. STEP 02

    For Windows (It appears differently depending on OS version.)

    For Macintosh (It appears differently depending on OS version.)

    Please connect a card reader containing the SD/SDHC/SDXC card or the dp1 Quattro to your computer and click the Download button or right click on the mouse (if you use a Macintosh computer, please press Control + click) to store the firmware file in the SD/SDHC/SDXC card root directory (Please do not store the file in a subfolder such as "DCIM").
    * If the firmware has downloaded whilst the camera is connected to your computer, please turn off your camera before disconnecting it from your computer.

  3. STEP 03

    Insert the SD/SDHC/SDXC card storing the firmware file of DP1QV101.BIN into your camera and turn on the dp1 Quattro.
    * It is not necessary to connect the camera body to your computer.

  4. STEP 04

    Press the MENU button on the back of the camera to display the Camera Set-up Menu.

  5. STEP 05

    Select "Firmware Update" from the Set-up Menu.
    Press the OK button again to display the firmware update window.
    The installed firmware information is displayed.

  6. STEP 06

    "Start Firmware update?" message will be displayed.

    In case of "Start Firmware Update" message is not displayed

    In the unlikely event that the "Start Firmware update" message does not appear, an error message will be displayed in the lower part of display.
    A list of possible reasons for this error message, along with the solutions, appear below.

    No Firmware update file on Memory card
    It is possible that the Firmware update file is not stored in the root directory. Please repeat the above installation from
    Cannot update firmware. No Memory Card.
    Please turn off your camera and insert the SD/SDHC/SDXC card with the stored firmware "DP1QV101.BIN" (copied to root directory) into your camera. Then repeat the above installation from STEP : 03.
    Cannot update firmware. Battery Empty.
    Please use a dedicated fully charged battery and repeat the above installation from STEP : 03.
    Cannot update firmware. Connecting cable.
    USB cable from your camera. Please repeat above installation from STEP 03.
    Cannot update firmware. Setting external flash.
    Turn off the camera and remove the external flashgun from your camera. Please repeat the above installation from
  7. STEP 07

    Select "Yes" and then press the OK button to start the firmware update. Firmware update will now start.
    (There will be two firmware updates. 5 seconds after starting the first update, the camera body will turn off automatically, and 3 seconds later it will turn on again to start the second update. In case the camera does not restart, turn on the power to resume the update. It takes about 1 minute as a total to update.)

    Error!

    If the "Firmware update has failed." message appears during firmware updating, please check the Error Code, and contact your nearest Service Center. Please visit the following "World Network" page for contact details.

  8. STEP 08

    When the message "Firmware update is complete. The camera will be turned off automatically." is displayed, the update is complete.
    * Please do not operate the camera until the message "Firmware update is complete." appears.

  9. STEP 09

    Select the "Information" from the Set-Up menu and confirm the firmware has been updated to "1.01". If "1.01" is displayed, the update is complete.

• SIGMA dp2 Quattro Firmware Ver.1.04
This firmware update should be applied to any SIGMA dp2 Quattro camera that has firmware "Ver.1.03" or lower.
* If your camera already has firmware "Ver.1.04", you do not need this update.

Ver.1.03

  • ・It has added the function to develop RAW data (X3F files) on the camera internally.
  • ・It has corrected the phenomenon that file numbers occasionally reset when they are set to be consecutive numbers.
  • ・It has corrected the phenomenon that the camera freezes when playing JPEG files developed by SIGMA Photo Pro.
  • ・It has added the function to display RAW data (X3F files) photographed by other SIGMA digital cameras.
    * It excludes RAW data (X3F files) of SIGMA SD9 and SD10.
  • Caution: If the camera firmware has been updated to Ver. 1.03, it is not possible to develop RAW files in other than SIGMA Photo Pro 6.1.0. Please be sure to update both of the camera firmware and the software to the latest version.

Ver.1.02

  • ・It has added the function to select whether the preview image on the LCD Display reflects the exposure result.
  • ・It has improved the AF accuracy for the objects with low brightness and contrast.
  • ・It has added the parameter to compensate for the saturation of red colors and improved the detail resolution of the specific part.
    * It is effective for both RAW and JPEG files, yet there is no change in the parameters in color modes other than "Neutral".
  • Caution: If the firmware has been updated to Ver.1.01 or later, it is not possible to develop RAW files in SIGMA Photo Pro Ver.6.0.5 or before. Please be sure to update it to the latest version.

Ver.1.01

  • • It has corrected the phenomenon that details of subjects that have both similar color tones and contrast difference will be lost when images are recorded in JPEG format.
  • • It has reduced the longitudinal noise that appears occasionally when changing each adjustment value in the image correction process substantially during the development of RAW files in SIGMA Photo Pro Ver.6.
  • Caution: If your firmware has been updated to Ver.1.01 or later, it is not possible to develop RAW files in SIGMA Photo Pro released before Ver.6.0.5. Please be sure to update it to SIGMA Photo Pro 6.0.5.

How to check the current firmware version

  1. Check 01

    Turn on the camera.

  2. Check 02

    Press the MENU button on the back of the camera to display the Camera Set-up Menu.

    Select "Information" from the Set-up Menu.
    Press the OK button again to display the firmware update window.
    The installed firmware information is displayed.
    If the version is "Ver.1.03" or lower, it is necessary to update to this new firmware version.

    In the unlikely event that the "Start Firmware update" message does not appear, an error message will be displayed in the lower part of display.
