    This firmware update is for SIGMA sd Quattro camera that have the firmware "Ver.1.05" or earlier.
* If your camera already has firmware "Ver.1.06", there is no need to do this update.

Benefits of this firmware update

Ver.1.06

  • It has changed the file structure of X3F and X3I files and enabled the camera to offer faster processing speeds.
  • It is possible to start up the camera faster.
  • It has improved the color reproduction performance during indoor shooting when AWB is selected.
  • It has improved the algorithm for the noise reduction in JPEG format.
  • It is possible that selector buttons can move the focus frame without using focus frame button.
  • It is possible to set the slowest limit for the shutter speed while shooing ISO Auto.
  • It is possible to allocate the “LV Magnification Display” function to the FUNC button of the Power Grip PG-41.
  • It is possible to display the shooting information on the sub monitor when checking the recorded images.
  • It has improved the accuracy of dimming when used with the ELECTRONIC FLASH EF-630 SA, the ELECTRONIC FLASH EF-610 DG SUPER SA-STTL, the ELECTRONIC FLASH EF-610 DG ST SA-STTL and the ELECTRONIC FLASH MACRO EM-140 DG SA-STTL.
  • It has changed the specification of the Super Fine Detail (SFD) mode that a warning message appears when the battery is low, and shooting in the SFD mode becomes unavailable.
  • It has corrected the phenomenon that the lens description in the EXIF data of JPEG images was not displayed properly. This was identified when the JPEG image was developed from the RAW data processed internally on the camera.
  • It has corrected the phenomenon that Auto Power OFF function took longer when some of the lenses with OS mechanism were attached.
  • It has corrected the phenomenon that there was some noise in the right side of the images, when DNG files were processed.
SIGMA Photo Pro ver. 6.5.4 or later is required to process the RAW data (X3F and X3I files) taken by the sd Quattro with firmware version 1.06.

How to check the current firmware version

  1. Check 01

    Turn on the camera.

  2. Check 02

    Press the MENU button on the back of the camera to display the Camera Set-up Menu.

  3. Check 03

    Select "Information" from the Set-up Menu.
    Press the OK button to display the firmware version of the camera.
    If the version is "Ver.1.05" or earlier, it is necessary to update to the new firmware version.

Notes for firmware update

If the camera battery runs out during the firmware update, it might affect the operation of the camera.
In order to avoid this, please read the following instructions carefully before updating the firmware.

  • Use a dedicated AC adapter or a fully charged battery.
  • Do not open the BATTERY/CARD COVER or try to operate the camera during the firmware update.
  • Do not turn off the camera during the firmware update.

How to update the firmware

  1. STEP 01

    Use a 512MB or larger SD/SDHC/SDXC card and format the card in the camera body.
    * In order to avoid the loss of image data, double-check the SD/SDHC/SDXC card before formatting.

  2. STEP 02

    For Windows (It appears differently depending on OS version.)

    For Macintosh (It appears differently depending on OS version.)

    Insert the SD/SDHC/SDXC card into a card reader or the sd Quattro to a computer and click the download button, or right click on the mouse (if you use a Macintosh computer, please press Control + click) to store the firmware file in the SD/SDHC/SDXC card's root directory (do not store the file in a subfolder such as "DCIM").
    * If the firmware is downloaded whilst the camera is connected to a computer, make sure the camera is turned off before disconnecting it from a computer.

  3. STEP 03

    Insert the SD/SDHC/SDXC card storing the firmware file into the sd Quattro and turn the camera on.
    * It is not necessary to connect the camera body to a computer during this process.

  4. STEP 04

    Press the MENU button on the back of the camera to display the Camera Set-up Menu.

  5. STEP 05

    Select "Firmware Update" from the Set-up Menu.
    Press the OK button to display the firmware update window.

  6. STEP 06

    The "Start Firmware update?" message will be displayed.

    If the "Start Firmware Update" message does not appear

    In the unlikely event that the "Start Firmware update" message does not appear, an error message will be displayed in the lower part of the display.
    A list of possible reasons for this error message along with the solutions are below.

    No firmware update file in the memory card
    It is possible that the firmware update file was not properly stored in the root directory. Start over the above installation from STEP 02.
    Cannot update the firmware. No memory card is found.
    Please turn off the camera and insert the SD/SDHC/SDXC card storing the firmware update file (copied to the root directory) into the camera. Then start the above installation from STEP 03.
    Cannot update the firmware. Battery is empty.
    Use a dedicated AC adapter or a fully charged battery and start the above installation from STEP 03.
    Cannot update the firmware. USB cable is connected.
    Turn off the camera and remove the USB cable. Please start the above installation from STEP 03.
    Cannot update the firmware. External flashgun is attached.
    Turn off the camera and remove the external flashgun. Please start the above installation from STEP 03.
  7. STEP 07

    Select "Yes" and then press the OK button to start the firmware update. Firmware update will start.
    (There will be two firmware updates. 5 seconds after starting the first update, the camera body will turn off automatically, and 3 seconds later it will turn on again to start the second update. In case the camera does not restart, turn on the power to resume the update. It takes about 3 minute in total to update.)

    Error!

    If the message "Firmware update has failed." appears during the firmware update, please check the Error Code and contact the nearest service center. The webpage "World Network" at the bottom will lead you to the contact details.

  8. STEP 08

    When the message "Firmware update is complete. The camera will restart automatically." is displayed, the update is complete.
    * Please do not operate the camera until the message "Firmware update is complete." appears.

  9. STEP 09

    Select "Information" from the Set-up menu and confirm the firmware has been updated to "1.06". If "1.06" is displayed, the update is successful.

How to check the current firmware version

  1. Check 01

    Turn on the camera.

    Press the MENU button on the back of the camera to display the Camera Set-up Menu.

    Select "Information" from the Set-up Menu.
    Press the OK button to display the firmware version of the camera.
    If the version is "Ver.1.01", it is necessary to update to the new firmware version.

    * If the firmware is downloaded whilst the camera is connected to a computer, make sure the camera is turned off before disconnecting it from a computer.

  3. STEP 03

    Insert the SD/SDHC/SDXC card storing the firmware file into the sd Quattro and turn the camera on.
    * It is not necessary to connect the camera body to a computer during this process.

  4. STEP 04

    Press the MENU button on the back of the camera to display the Camera Set-up Menu.

  5. STEP 05

    Select "Firmware Update" from the Set-up Menu.
    Press the OK button to display the firmware update window.

  6. STEP 06

    The "Start Firmware update?" message will be displayed.

    If the "Start Firmware Update" message does not appear

    In the unlikely event that the "Start Firmware update" message does not appear, an error message will be displayed in the lower part of the display.
    A list of possible reasons for this error message along with the solutions are below.

    No firmware update file in the memory card
    It is possible that the firmware update file was not properly stored in the root directory. Start over the above installation from STEP 02.
    Cannot update the firmware. No memory card is found.
    Please turn off the camera and insert the SD/SDHC/SDXC card storing the firmware update file (copied to the root directory) into the camera. Then start the above installation from STEP 03.
    Cannot update the firmware. Battery is empty.
    Use a dedicated AC adapter or a fully charged battery and start the above installation from STEP 03.
    Cannot update the firmware. USB cable is connected.
    Turn off the camera and remove the USB cable. Please start the above installation from STEP 03.
    Cannot update the firmware. External flashgun is attached.
    Turn off the camera and remove the external flashgun. Please start the above installation from STEP 03.
  7. STEP 07

    Select "Yes" and then press the OK button to start the firmware update. Firmware update will start.
    (There will be two firmware updates. 5 seconds after starting the first update, the camera body will turn off automatically, and 3 seconds later it will turn on again to start the second update. In case the camera does not restart, turn on the power to resume the update. It takes about 3 minute in total to update.)

    Error!

    If the message "Firmware update has failed." appears during the firmware update, please check the Error Code and contact the nearest service center. The webpage "World Network" at the bottom will lead you to the contact details.

  8. STEP 08

    When the message "Firmware update is complete. The camera will restart automatically." is displayed, the update is complete.
    * Please do not operate the camera until the message "Firmware update is complete." appears.

  9. STEP 09

    Select "Information" from the Set-up menu and confirm the firmware has been updated to "1.02". If "1.02" is displayed, the update is successful.

  • It has corrected the phenomenon that there was some noise in the right side of the images, when DNG files were processed using Adobe Photoshop by Adobe Systems Incorporated.

Ver.2.01

  • It has corrected the phenomenon that buttons on the back of the camera do not work when restarting the camera after the update, depending on the camera settings.
* The latest version of SIGMA Photo Pro 6.5.4 is required to process the RAW data (X3F and X3I files) taken by the dp Quattro series after the firmware update.

How to check the current firmware version

    The installed firmware information is displayed.
    If the version is "Ver.2.01" or lower, it is necessary to update to this new firmware version.

Caution (Firmware update)

If the camera is turned off during the update procedure, it might cause a malfunction and damage your camera.
To avoid causing a malfunction, please read the following carefully before updating the firmware.

  • Please use a dedicated AC adapter or a fully charged battery.
  • Do not open the BATTERY/CARD COVER or operate the camera during the firmware update.
  • Do not turn off the camera during the firmware update.

How to update the firmware

  1. STEP 01

    Please use 512MB or larger SD/SDHC/SDXC card and format the card in the camera body.
    * To avoid loss of your important data, please check the SD/SDHC/SDXC card before formatting

  2. STEP 02

    For Windows (It appears differently depending on OS version.)

    For Macintosh (It appears differently depending on OS version.)

    Please connect a card reader containing the SD/SDHC/SDXC card or the dp2 Quattro to your computer and click the Download button or right click on the mouse (if you use a Macintosh computer, please press Control + click) to store the firmware file in the SD/SDHC/SDXC card root directory (Please do not store the file in a subfolder such as "DCIM").
    * If the firmware has downloaded whilst the camera is connected to your computer, please turn off your camera before disconnecting it from your computer.

  3. STEP 03

    Insert the SD/SDHC/SDXC card storing the firmware file of DP2QV202.BIN into your camera and turn on the dp2 Quattro.
    * It is not necessary to connect the camera body to your computer.

  4. STEP 04

    Press the MENU button on the back of the camera to display the Camera Set-up Menu.

  5. STEP 05

    Select "Firmware Update" from the Set-up Menu.
    Press the OK button again to display the firmware update window.
    The installed firmware information is displayed.

  6. STEP 06

    "Start Firmware update?" message will be displayed.

    In case of "Start Firmware Update" message is not displayed

    In the unlikely event that the "Start Firmware update" message does not appear, an error message will be displayed in the lower part of display.
    A list of possible reasons for this error message, along with the solutions, appear below.

    No Firmware update file on Memory card
    It is possible that the Firmware update file is not stored in the root directory. Please repeat the above installation from STEP : 02.
    Cannot update firmware. No Memory Card.
    Please turn off your camera and insert the SD/SDHC/SDXC card with the stored firmware "DP2QV202.BIN" (copied to root directory) into your camera. Then repeat the above installation from STEP : 03.
    Cannot update firmware. Battery Empty.
    Please use a dedicated fully charged battery and repeat the above installation from STEP : 03.
    Cannot update firmware. Connecting cable.
    USB cable from your camera. Please repeat above installation from STEP 03.
    Cannot update firmware. Setting external flash.
    Turn off the camera and remove the external flashgun from your camera. Please repeat the above installation from
  7. STEP 07

    Select "Yes" and then press the OK button to start the firmware update. Firmware update will now start.
    (There will be two firmware updates. 5 seconds after starting the first update, the camera body will turn off automatically, and 3 seconds later it will turn on again to start the second update. In case the camera does not restart, turn on the power to resume the update. It takes about 1 minute as a total to update.)

    Error!

    If the "Firmware update has failed." message appears during firmware updating, please check the Error Code, and contact your nearest Service Center. Please visit the following "World Network" page for contact details.

  8. STEP 08

    When the message "Firmware update is complete. The camera will be turned off automatically." is displayed, the update is complete.
    * Please do not operate the camera until the message "Firmware update is complete." appears.

  9. STEP 09

    Select the "Information" from the Set-Up menu and confirm the firmware has been updated to "2.02". If "2.02" is displayed, the update is complete.

  • SIGMA dp3 Quattro Firmware Ver.2.02
    This firmware update should be applied to any SIGMA dp3 Quattro camera that has firmware "Ver.2.01" or earlier.
    * If your camera already has firmware "Ver.2.02", you do not need this update.

Benefits of this firmware update

Ver.2.02

  • It has corrected the phenomenon that there was some noise in the right side of the images, when DNG files were processed using Adobe Photoshop by Adobe Systems Incorporated.
* SIGMA Photo Pro ver. 6.5.4 or later is required to process the RAW data (X3F and X3I files) taken by the dp Quattro with firmware version 2.00 or later

Ver.2.01

  • It has corrected the phenomenon that buttons on the back of the camera do not work when restarting the camera after the update, depending on the camera settings.
* The latest version of SIGMA Photo Pro 6.5.4 is required to process the RAW data (X3F and X3I files) taken by the dp Quattro series after the firmware update.

How to check the current firmware version

  1. Check 01

    Turn on the camera.

  2. Check 02

    Press the MENU button on the back of the camera to display the Camera Set-up Menu.

  3. Check 03

    Select "Information" from the Set-up Menu.
    Press the OK button again to display the firmware update window.
    The installed firmware information is displayed.
    If the version is "Ver.2.01" or lower, it is necessary to update to this new firmware version.

    The installed firmware information is displayed.

  6. STEP 06

    "Start Firmware update?" message will be displayed.

    In case of "Start Firmware Update" message is not displayed

    In the unlikely event that the "Start Firmware update" message does not appear, an error message will be displayed in the lower part of display.
    A list of possible reasons for this error message, along with the solutions, appear below.

    No Firmware update file on Memory card
    It is possible that the Firmware update file is not stored in the root directory. Please repeat the above installation from STEP : 02.
    Cannot update firmware. No Memory Card.

    Select "Yes" and then press the OK button to start the firmware update. Firmware update will now start.

  9. STEP 09

    Select the "Information" from the Set-Up menu and confirm the firmware has been updated to "2.02". If "2.02" is displayed, the update is complete.
